Our "No-Harm" Philosophy As well as considering U-values and energy ratings, we also look at the long term impact of the materials we specify. Our approach is defined by three clear commitments: Safety First: We do not recommend any materials that are harmful to the environment or to the people living inside the building. Minimising the Synthetic: We actively minimise the use of petrochemical products, plastics, and other polluting materials. Modern retrofits are often "wrapped in plastic"—we believe there is a better, cleaner way. The Power of Natural Materials: We are particularly careful to use natural, vapour-permeable materials wherever possible, particularly for older buildings. Older buildings: why "vapour permeability" matters Older buildings were designed to be "vapour permeable". By using natural, permeable materials instead of non-porous synthetics, we ensure that moisture can move through the structure safely. This prevents the damp and condensation issues often associated with "standard" insulation, creating a living environment that is fresh, healthy, and built to last another century.
